Me circa 1984 getting ready for my birthday party

This past Thursday was my birthday. I celebrated with my love over a wonderful dinner at Pure Food & Wine. I got the Hen of the WoodsTacos Al Pastor and Chris got the Sweet Corn and Cashew Tamales with Chili Spiced Portabella.

Then on Friday, we woke up and headed to Margate NJ to celebrate my birthday with my family. I've been going to Margate since I was a little girl. It's a small beach town in South Jersey, about 2 1/2 hrs from NYC or a little more then an hour from Philly. Along with the nostalgia it holds, it's always relaxing. Being near the ocean has always been instantly calming, no matter what is going on in my life.

Even though its small, Margate does have a few Vegan & Vegetarian options. Here are some of my favorite spots  in Margate City & Ventnor NJ:

To cool down after a nice bike ride, (Margate & Ventnor are very bike friendly) check out Juniors Donuts & Dogs. Make sure you order the banana whip! Pure banana without all the additives you don't need. Its my favorite!  If you feel like splurging, the apple cider donuts are wonderful as well. They're not vegan though. Enjoy it at 9315 Amherst Ave Margate City, NJ

For those just wanting to cook at home, Pamela's Health and Harmony  is a wonderful natural foods market for all your vegan/gluten free needs. The owner is super sweet too! It's located at 8508 Ventnor Ave Margate City, NJ

If you're looking for more of a sit down meal, Megu Sushi has quite a few vegan options (soup, salad & rolls) . Get your sushi on at 5214 Atlantic Ave, Ventnor City, NJ .

For an after dinner treat, head to The Margate Dairy Bar and enjoy some Coconut Bliss Ice cream or various flavors of Water Ice. Enjoy to your hearts content at 9510 Ventnor Ave, Margate City, NJ.
